In astrology a horoscope is a diagram of the heavens depicting the relative positions of the Sun, Moon, planets and ascendant and mid heaven signs of the zodiac at a given period. A horoscope is used to convey current information as well as to forecast future events.

An individuals horoscope usually depicts the time of birth and is used by astrologers to assess character as well as forecast the future when combined with other astrological data. This is in line with the concept that each celestial body has its own mythological personality which is shaped by its geometric relationship to other celestial bodies at any given time.

Because everything in the universe is connected these bodies have an impact especially on newborns. The heavens are frequently represented in horoscopes by a circle divided into 12 crossings known as houses. Several aspects of human existence including as wealth and marriage are ascribed to each of these houses. The planets that fall within a house are thought to have an influence on the topics that concern to that house.

The original objective of astrology on the other hand was to predict the course of a persons life based on the positions of the planets and zodiacal signs (the 12 astrological constellations) at the time of conception or birth. The essential procedures of astrology were created from this science known as genethlialogy (casting nativities). General Catarchic and interrogatory astrology are the three primary subcategories of astrology that emerged following genethlialogy.
